For The Girls Hosted Blog FAQ
1. What is a hosted affiliate blog?
A hosted affiliate blog is a standard blog adapted so that affiliates can send traffic to it in the same way as a paysite tour. The blog has special code that allows the affiliate's ID to be parsed into every link and thus be credited with sales made via the blog. The For The Girls blog has been created as another promotional tool for our partners. It's like an alternative tour - it gives surfers another view of the site and allows them a few sneak peeks of what's inside the member's area.
2. What is an RSS feed and what do I do with it?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It allows content from a single source to be viewed on multiple websites, usually blogs. On it's own the RSS feed doesn't look like much; it's only when fed into a blog or an aggregator that it comes into its own.
You can use our RSS feed to automatically add posts to your blog or site about For The Girls. This means you can have regularly updated information or photos that link back to For The Girls - with your affiliate code included - without expending much effort.
3. How do I get the RSS feed to work in my blog or on my site?
To use our RSS feed you'll need a blog (typically running Wordpress) and a plugin that will allow the blog to reproduce the RSS feed as posts. WP plugins include WP-O-Matic or Feedwordpress. You'll find instructions for using these plugins on their sites.
There's also WP Autoblog which is good for newbies due to it's simplicity. The author has stopped offering it but we've got an older version of it for download here. To use it you simply upload the files into your plugin folder, activate the plugin and tell it the address of our feed. Your blog should begin to add FTG posts straight away. And that's it, simple!
To get the feeds to appear on a HTML or PHP page you'll need to install separate software. Check Google's page here - it lists a number of freebie scripts that can help.
4. How does the blog and RSS feed make me sales?
Both the blog and the feed will automatically parse all links so that they contain your CCBill affiliate ID, ensuring that any sales made are credited to you. Every post contains a link back to the main tour page of For The Girls. The blog will also help to make sales by offering surfers more information about what they'll find inside For The Girls.
5. What's in the affiliate blog?
The blog offers single, softcore photos of our featured male models and hot couples with a short description. There's also excerpts from our exclusive written content - that includes snippets from erotic fiction, articles, Wicked Ways letters and columns. We're also providing information about the latest updates within the member's area. On top of that there's occasional editorial content offering commentary on women's erotica or other issues. These posts are there to give the blog personality but they will not contain any outgoing links.
6. How often is it updated?
At this stage the blog will be updated four times a week.
7. Can I personalise the RSS feed?
There are a number of different feeds available. Aside from the full feed you can elect to use the hunks-only feed, which only features photo posts of our male models. Similarly the couples-only feed restricts you to just the male-female sex pics. A text-only feed is also available. You can also personalise individual posts by instructing your plugin to change certain words that may appear.
9. What about the 2257 laws?
We are unable to provide the models ID to US-based webmasters. For those concerned about the 2257 laws we offer a text-only feed. This excludes the photo-based posts but keeps the written excerpts, commentary and update information.
9. Where can I find more information about blogging and RSS feeds?
Check the Blogs and Blogging forum at Greenguy and Jim's board.
You'll find the links for the blog and RSS feeds on the galleries page.
